I've always considered Doug my greatest climbing mentor and very great friend, and overall a wonderful caring, humorous life loving guy. He taught me how to enjoy rock climbing multipitch alpine routes by being safe and fast and have good technical technique. The first ever alpine rock climb that I climbed in my life was with Doug, The 24 pitch Cordiere Pillar on the West Face of the Grande Charmoz, we cruised it, it was one of the best climbing experiences of my life. Doing many similar climbs since then has given me so much pleasure in life.
