A friend who will be missed

Created by simon 4 years ago

I only really got to know Doug in the last 10 years or so, but he had clearly been a great climber in his time, with many great stories...

I only actually did one climb with Doug, Flying Buttress on Stanage but just a couple of years ago, walking to the crag and back were a struggle but Doug didn't complain about that; how Doug approached life with Parkinsons was an inspiration.

Doug was very generous to me with many gifts of his excellent photos, my favorites the sunny sandy beaches of Norfolk with huge blue skies that spoke of happy summer days at the seaside...

He had a great sense of humour... the difference between realistically and obstensibly being a favorite joke.

Doug at times could be a bit of a lovable rogue, but because he was such a decent bloke he was always lovable!

I believe Doug deserved his luck in finding such a great life partner in Sue, my thoughts are with her at this difficult time.

Doug is a friend who will be missed sincerely in the present, but who will remain in my thoughts with thanks of our friendship always.
